Incorrect: the left side of the iPhone preview shows floor. Correct: the green mat is extended to the left edge of the preview.
01

Keep the left side of the view green

Extend the green mat along the shot direction all the way to the left edge of the iPhone preview. The ball then flies over a green background for longer after impact, which gives xShot more clean frames to measure.

Incorrect: dim light with a strong shadow across the mat. Correct: bright, even light with soft shadows.
02

Use bright, even lighting

Minimize shadows on the ball, the clubhead and the hitting area. Make sure your body or the phone stand does not block the light falling on the mat.

Adjustable arm stand and selfie stick tripod setups, both with the phone at least 110 cm above the mat; tilt the tripod-mounted phone 0–20 degrees toward the ball.
03

Mount the phone at 110 cm or higher

A higher camera position widens the field of view, so the iPhone captures more of the ball flight after impact. We recommend a phone height of at least 110 cm above the mat.

Coming in xShot 2.5.12: support for both adjustable arm stands and selfie stick tripods, covering nearly every common phone stand style. The adjustable arm setup is recommended; with a selfie stick tripod, tilt the phone 0–20° toward the ball as shown. Keep the stand stable and clear of your swing, then follow the in-app calibration guide.

Incorrect: warm yellow light with a strong color cast. Correct: neutral white light around 5000K.
04

Choose neutral white light (around 5000K)

Avoid lighting with a strong yellow cast. Neutral white around 5000K keeps the green mat and the white ball looking the way xShot expects.

5000K is a recommendation, not a requirement. Bright, even lighting matters most.

Incorrect: a single low lamp on the right casts a shadow on the left of the ball. Correct: front-left and overhead light remove the shadow.
05

Avoid shadows ahead of the ball

"Ahead of the ball" means the left side of the view, in the shot direction. Strong low-angle light from the right casts a shadow on the left of the ball.

If you see that shadow, add light from the front-left or from overhead to remove or soften it, so the ball and the flight area in front of it are lit evenly.

Incorrect: white alignment lines painted on the mat. Correct: a clean, continuous green mat.
06

Avoid white lines on the mat

Keep white alignment lines off the hitting mat, especially near the ball and in the flight area after impact. A continuous, clean green background is what xShot tracks against.
